Nutrition: About Me

Welcome!

In my online clinical nutrition practice, I love working with women and men to treat thyroid conditions. This can range from subclinical hypo and hyperthyroidism to the autoimmune disorders Hashimoto thyroiditis and Graves disease. All of those symptoms that your GP may tell you are normal may be common but they are not normal and by implententing lifestyle changes as well as nutrition and supplementation strategies,  you can start to see an improvement in those symptoms that you have just been putting up with.

When studying Nutritional Science I always enjoyed learning about the Thyroid Gland. After I finished my studies and started to take on clients, so many people I worked with had some kind of thyroid dysfunction. Me being the curious and forever student that I am, I went on to do further study on the Thyroid so I could understand how to treat people more effectively.

The Thyroid Gland is situated in the front of the neck and is like the 'engine' that drives many other functions in the body. Metabolism and digestive function are just two of those. For instance, for those with a low-functioning thyroid, metabolism can slow down, and digestive juices reduce, leading to an array of issues in the body from malabsorption of nutrients to weight gain. If the thyroid is not functioning optimally then it is easy to imagine the number of cascade effects that can occur throughout the body. Because of this, I am not limited to working with Thyroid clients and also enjoy working with gut health, nutritional imbalances, hormonal imbalances including perimenopause and menopause, weight loss, parasite and blood sugar regulation.

I am also a big fan of blood work analysis - It can give us so much valuable information and in some cases, it can give us enough information so that the more expensive functional tests may not be necessary. Again, this was one of the areas in my initial studies that I was drawn to so I went on to dive deeper into this amazing topic. I continue to learn whenever I can so that I can use these tests to individualize treatments as much as possible. You can book this as part of your initial consultation or as a stand-alone consult to give you some pointers on nutrition and lifestyle.

So if you suspect you have thyroid dysfunction or have been diagnosed by your GP then I would love to connect with you to begin your healing journey. For some this journey may be straightforward forward for others there may be more complexity involved. Whatever the case I will be with you every step of the way to guide and support you.
